What do we do?

Kids Halloween Party - The Club and the Galaxy Youth Center co-sponsors a costume party and activities for younger kids in the community.  Grinnell Optimist Support the party financialy and with volunteers.

HeadStart  Field Trip - HeadStart an organization that provides preschool daycares to low-income families had budget cuts and were going to discontinue a field trip to a local Pumpkin farm.  The club has underwritten the trip since 2005.

Kites over Grinnell - An annual event since 2001, the club are just one part of several cooperating groups working on the event that includes professional kite fliers and very large interesting kites.  Events for kids and many colorful kites fill the day.  

National Night Out - The club partners with the local police to host a citywide ice cream social at three city parks for the National Night Out program.

Aid to Families - The club provides gas cards to families who have children with serious illnesses that require multiple trips to medical facilities.

Grinnell Fly-in Drive-in-  The Club Parners With Grinnell Aviation to host a breakfast for the open house and Fly-in / Drive-in.   Breakfast with a twist, freaturing french toast, sausage, and beverage.   A great family outing.

Optimist Essay & Oratorical Contests - The Club partners with the teachers in the local school who makes it part of the curriculum. We have sent one young man to the national level and in the process have been very impressed with the young people in our community.
